Google services went down or showed instability on Monday morning (14). Users from multiple countries reported a problem with Search Engine, YouTube, Gmail, Sheets, Classroom, Drive, Maps, Hangouts, Meet, and Calendar.

According to the DownDetector website, complaints started around 8:30 a.m. and peaked at 9:00 a.m. Then they slowed down. The tools were unstable for about 45 minutes.

In a statement, Google said the decline in its authentication system was “due to a problem with managing its internal storage quota”. All services have been restored.

Falls have been recorded in Brazil, the United States, Asia, and several countries in Europe.

The topic soon became one of the most debated on social media. On Twitter, users made memes about postponed exams, canceled meetings, and joked about how much your Felipe Neto was no longer making from the problem (in a recent post he stated that a prime-time drop on YouTube put him around 17.7 Thousand R $ made a loss).

At 9:30 a.m. there were few complaints and a lot of people were posting on social media that the services were standardized.

YouTube, which generated more than 112,000 complaints on DownDetector at 8:48 a.m., focused on fewer than 10,000 at 9:30 a.m.

A Google page with information on the performance of the services confirmed the failure of all applications on Monday.

At 10:31 a.m., Gmail went from red, temporarily suspended, to orange, indicating an interruption in service. In this case, users can access the email, but they experience error warnings or delays in loading messages.

With the exception of Gmail, all other services were given the green light as early as 9:52 a.m., indicating that there are no issues.

“Today at 8:47 am (GMT), Google had to accept a failure of its authentication system for approximately 45 minutes due to an internal quota management problem. Services that require user login experienced high failure rates during this period. The authentication error was fixed at 9:32 am, “the company said in a notice, adding that it is doing a thorough check to make sure this is not repeated.

Although the decline lasted less than an hour, some companies stood idle during that time. Teachers also reported problems connecting with students – many schools hiked to Meet and Classroom during the pandemic.
