The KSU volleyball team fell short Friday and Saturday night as
they fell to conference opponents from Florida–Jacksonville University
and North Florida. Both games were played at home in the Convocation
Center.

Friday night’s game started out very close in the first set. The Owls kept the score tight at 18-all until JU took a five point lead at 23-18. The Owls then rallied back, notching three more points before the Dolphins secured the win with the final two consecutive points, leaving the score 25-21.
In the second set, the Owls saw a strong Dolphin offense with JU taking the lead, 10-3. KSU tried their best to fight back, elevating their score to within just 4 points, but JU would not let up, winning the second set, 25-16.
The third and final set saw a strong KSU team, keeping the score tied until 11-11 and even gaining the lead at 13-12. The Dolphins then jumped back into the game with a 6-0 run, giving themselves a lead that would not be challenged, and winning the match with a final set score of 25-16.
On Saturday night, the Owls faced UNF for their Senior Night. The lone senior, Tara Dillon, was honored before the match started. The Owls lost three sets and won one in this Atlantic Sun Conference match. The first set showed a fierce Owls team up 20-15 until UNF capitalized on KSU errors and rallied back to make the score tied 20-all. The Owls would go up one more time before the Ospreys won the set on a service error by KSU, 25-23.
The second set was an Osprey show with the team running away with the score, taking a 24-17 lead and finally winning the set at 25-20.
The third set was the Owl’s to win. The KSU team kept the lead for the whole set, finishing the win on a Chelsey Denesha ace at 25-17. The fourth and final set was a hard-fought, close race to the end. KSU was up, 23-22, when UNF took the next two points and the lead by one. The Owls then tied with an Asjia Stokes kill to make the score 24-all. That would be the last KSU saw of the match as UNF then capitalized on two attack errors by KSU, and took a kill for the match point to an Osprey victory.
