Another loss for volleyball

Following a hard fought win on Friday night against
conference-rival Stetson, the KSU Women’s Volleyball team took on
Florida Gulf Coast in the Convocation Center on Saturday afternoon.
FGCU entered the match undefeated in conference play with a record of 5-5 overall. The Eagles defeated the Owls in three sets (25-14, 25-5, 25-19). With the loss, KSU fell to 2-10 overall and 1-4 in the conference.
The Owls got off to a steady start, holding the Eagles to an 11-all tie in the first set until FGCU went on an 11-1 run to take a 22-12 lead. FGCU would cruise to a 25-19 win in the third set to clinch the match.
The Owls had some outstanding individual performances in this match, with Gulley and Callie Chruchwell having five kills in the match and Tara Dillon notching 10 assists in the third set for KSU. The team is looking ahead to the remainder of their season and is gearing up for their next match, Tues., Sept. 23 in the Convocation Center against UT-Chattanooga.
