Marketing majors’ skating event to entertain many

Ambush Boarding Company and KSU’s promotional strategies marketing
students team up to create one the most spectacular events of the year.
On Friday the 13th at 5:00 p.m., Ambush will host a skate boarding
contest at their Barrett Parkway store.

This is an event to write down, including a car bash
extravaganza where participants pay a dollar and get a hammer and three
chances to hit a beat up car that the students decorated.
For any creative minds, there will be a Design Your
Own Deck contest where students get to create their own skate board
deck. The winner will have their board sold at Ambush. Along with all
of the other festivities there will be food vendors, t-shirts and more.
Anyone can participate in the actual skate boarding
event for an entrance fee of $20. Ambush street courses will be set up
with at least one car to skate over. The three divisions are for
intermediate skaters, advanced skaters and of course the sponsored
skaters.
Detailed information on the qualifications is available online at the Ambush home page.
“I expect everything to be amazing,” said Ambush’s
general manager Lee Elliot. “We always try to make each event stand on
its own, each with little differences, and I believe that’s what causes
a big impact in the end. I am excited about the level of skateboarding
that will be seen in this contest and the car bashing we incorporated
to ensure the competitors and spectators talk about this event for
months to come.”
Jaclyn Miller, CEO of the project said the students
have been working on this since the start of the semester, but that all
the students have had a blast.
“I’ve had a great time helping make this event
happen, this class really helps me get a taste of what public relations
is going to be about and I would recommend it to anyone,” said senior
Adam Woods.
